A couple from Ohio who have been married for 79 years are getting ready to celebrate two milestone birthdays: both of them will reach 100 years old in the coming month.
According to NBC affiliate WLWT, both Hubert and June Malicote were born in July 1922 and spent their childhoods in rural Kentucky. They did not meet one other until they travelled to Ohio in search of employment.
The pair disclosed to the news organization that they met at a local church, where their friendship eventually developed into something more romantic. They went on to get married on June 8, 1943, but had to spend some time apart during World War II since Hubert was required to serve in the Navy in Hawaii. He was stationed there for two years.
He recalled that June was there waiting for him at the railway station when he got back, and he saw her there.
According to Today, the pair eventually settled down in Hamilton, Ohio, where they started their own life together. At this point in time, they have three children, seven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren in their family.
The next month, they will gather together to celebrate June’s birthday on July 13 and Hubert’s birthday on July 23, and the celebration will include a church service in their backyard, according to the outlet. June’s birthday is on July 13, and Hubert will turn 100 on July 23.

As for the couple’s strategy for maintaining their love throughout the years, it involves avoiding one very key item, and that is conflict.
Hubert stated to WLWT that the two of them have “never had a quarrel.” “There hasn’t been a single disagreement between us.”
During his conversation with Today, Hubert elaborated by saying, “We didn’t go through life without issues, but we would never do anything to damage each other.” It is possible that you will have to excuse yourself for a few minutes if there is contention.
Additionally, quality time spent together is a priority for the relationship.
According to Today, June and Hubert spend each night together having supper, watching a movie, and then finishing the evening with a passionate kiss before retiring for the day.
Their daughter, who is now 70 years old, shared the following story with the outlet: “I put Mom in her wheelchair next to where Dad is seated and they clasp hands and say goodbye to each other.” “The next morning, when they both wake up, they are overjoyed to see each other. They exchange warm greetings with large smiles on their faces.”
