Two youngsters meet at a wedding after a chance encounter, then go down the aisle at their own two decades later.
Two 3-year-olds escorted each other down the aisle as flower girl and ring bearer during a Minnesota wedding in 1995. The flower girl was a friend’s daughter, and the ring bearer was the bride’s godson.
Briggs Fussy and Brittney Husbyn, both 22, walked down the aisle again almost 20 years later, this time as bride and groom.
They hadn’t seen or spoken to each other since their 1997 wedding, and neither claimed to remember anything about it.
“When I saw the photo, it clicked who she was,” he added.
“I knew I was going to marry her,” Briggs said of Fussy and Husbyn in an interview with CNN. Fussy and Husbyn began dating in their junior year of college and attended different universities — Fussy attended the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse and Husbyn attended Minnesota State University-Mankato — before deciding to marry. They are the parents of two children.
They’ve relished the attention their incredible love story has gotten.
“I’m quite cheesy when it comes to love stuff,” Husbyn told CNN.
He studies economics, and she looks at education. They are two semesters away from finishing their degrees at Minnesota State University. After graduation, the pair wants to relocate to Blaine, Minnesota, closer to family.
According to Fussy, it’s been a whirlwind since the pair married the knot on Jan. 10.
