One day, Zhenya was surfing the web when she saw a picture of a wild sable. She fell in love with it at once.

At a fur farm in Russia, the sable was next in line to be killed. Its silky fur is some of the most valuable and sought-after in the world.

Zhenya went out to save the beautiful animal. She told Bored Panda:

“Eventually, I found out that I could buy her away from the fur farm. She would have died there, so I decided to save the little guy.”

She called the Sabel Umora, and it didn’t take long for the two of them to get along and start enjoying life.

“Umora is hard to get along with. Living on the fur farm was hard on her, so she is very emotional and sometimes even hysterical.

“Umora is also a very playful pet. She is sneaky and likes to steal things. She is very busy and also very smart.”

Zhenya worked hard to keep her exotic pet, and she would tell you not to get one as a pet.

She said, “You have to go through a lot before you can start to live with it comfortably.”
“It takes a long time and a lot of patience. It might even take a couple of years before you can fully enjoy your life with it.”

Sables aren’t usually kept as pets. They live in burrows and along riverbanks in areas with lots of trees.

Often seen looking for food at dusk or dawn. During their breeding season, they can be seen during the day.
