A very protective elephant was caught on camera tenderly guiding her young calf across a roadside concrete obstacle so they could rejoin the herd. With the help of its mother, the calf broke beyond the barrier, where it linked up with its older brother, and then they all got lost in the jungle.
One of the calves got too tall to fit over the roadside barrier as a mother elephant and her two offspring crossed a road in India. While the mother and older brother easily navigated the hurdle, the third elephant, a small calf, found keeping up with the rest of the herd difficult.
Despite its resolve to follow in its family’s footsteps, the concrete barrier proved to be more difficult than it had anticipated. At one point, it even tries but fails to elevate his front legs. The small animal finally made it past the stumbling obstacle thanks to the protective mother’s strong trunk.
Anish Kata and several friends were out on a bike ride when they came across the elephant family. Surprised, he captured the “breathtaking scene” on his cellphone. Despite being thrilled to have come upon such a magnificent elephant family, Anish kept a safe distance. Elephants are fiercely protective of their young. If humans approach too close to them in this situation, they may lash out.
