No matter where they are, everyone wants to feel welcome and like they belong. Unfortunately, many people around the world feel left out because of things that happen to them or because of who they are. This is where Morgan Hartman was.

Morgan’s dad, Gordon Hartman, wanted to make his daughter feel like she fit in better. Gordon showed that a father’s love has no limits when he built his daughter her own amusement park. When his daughter finally felt at home for the first time, a loving father will never forget that day.

Gordon looked all over the country and even in other countries for a park that seemed to welcome people from all backgrounds, including those with disabilities. Morgan had a hard time making friends and fitting in at a public pool.

When Gordon decided to build his 12-year-old daughter the amusement park of her dreams, he got most of his ideas from the following. Gordon started working on the project in 2006 and finished it in April 2010.

Morgan’s Wonderland in San Antonio, Texas, is now a place where kids and adults can go and have fun in a safe way. It’s a park with rides and games where anyone can have fun and meet new people. Continue reading to learn more about this amazing story.

The official website for Morgan’s Wonderland says that Gordon got the idea for the amusement park after seeing how other kids treated his autistic daughter. Morgan was 12 at the time and had trouble getting along with other people. Gordon wanted his daughter to meet people her age and make friends with them. The other kids at the pool they went to did not know how to talk to Morgan, which was sad. Morgan didn’t want to join in the fun at the pool, so she chose to just watch.

Morgan’s caring father turned his sadness into a new goal: making a place where Morgan could meet new people and talk to them without feeling awkward or alone. Since there wasn’t one, the determined man set out to make one.

PEOPLE says that Gordon held several meetings to raise money and talk with architects, engineers, doctors, and therapists. The design of the park cost $35 million, and work on it began in 2007. The park, which is open to everyone, opened to the public in April 2010. Inside the amusement park is a water park called Morgan’s Inspiration Island.

At the moment, Morgan’s Wonderland is a great place where kids of all abilities can hang out and feel loved and accepted. Gordon told Inside Edition, “It’s amazing to see people who don’t get to do the same things we do, like ride a carousel.”

He said, “Little things can make a big difference.”
